Working with regulated materials? Report it by February 6

Annual reporting is required for certain chemicals and research.

Every year, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) is required to report the following:

  1. The university's use, production and storage of the following federally-regulated chemical and nuclear materials:
    • Asbestos, asbestos-containing products, and specific hazardous chemicals
    • Nuclear materials (uranium, thorium, plutonium) and preparations that contain these materials 
  2. Nuclear fuel cycle-related research and development

*If you are already registered with the new Chemical Inventory + Hazardous Waste Management System, U of A Safety Hub, and have already entered your hazardous materials and inventory information, you do not need to complete the declaration form. Quantity details in your inventory must be reviewed to ensure they are accurate and up to date by January 31st.

To determine if you work with regulated materials or to report your work, complete the declaration form by February 6, 2026.
