What is your official job title?
Operations process lead with the Department of Pediatrics.
How would you describe your role to people who do not work in your field?
I lead the Operations team in the Department of Pediatrics. We support our faculty, staff and learners as they work towards advancing child health. Among many things, we help recruit and manage teams, plan and maintain budgets, host visitors, coordinate events and bring the department together to build a workplace culture that sparkles. I am so lucky and proud to get to work with and lead such a smart, kind, committed and hardworking team of professionals every day!
What is one thing you like about working in the FoMD?
The faculty, staff and learners that my team and I get to support in the department and across the FoMD are some of the most passionate people around, and the academic and clinical work they do is filled with incredible local and global impact. The work that this department and faculty do is so important, and it is energizing to work alongside amazing people doing amazing things.
How long have you worked at the U of A?
Over the course of 8 years at the university, I have worked for a few different teams including international recruitment, human resources and now the pediatrics department operations. I am also a proud U of A grad and love being a part of this great campus community as a staff member.
What's something you like to do for fun?
I have a great group of close friends who recharge me and keep things fun — from trying new restaurants and bars, playing new board games to watching the latest season of the Real Housewives together. I also enjoy being active (swimming and spin classes) and going to see Broadway musicals with my husband.
Is there anything else you'd like to share about yourself?
I am a mega Swiftie! I have been lucky to get to see Taylor in concert five times and know every word to every song. I have a separate room in my house dedicated just for TSwift merch, and have even been known to take my vacation days around new album release weeks.
