Lifelong Learning
Physician Learning Program
The Physician Learning Program (PLP) is funded through a grant from the Government of Alberta Ministry of Health. PLP creates actionable clinical information by engaging with physicians, teams, partners and patients to co-create sustainable solutions to advance practice.
The PLP aims to support a learning health care system, with the goal of improving health outcomes and health care system sustainability.
Our guiding principles include remaining flexible in our approach to problems and solutions, and responding to patients’, clinicians’, and health system needs. We use the best available data and evidence-based analysis to support decision making, and integrate and advance improvement science to address clinical gaps.
The 2025-2029 PLP business plan identifies four strategic priorities, including: moving clinical evidence into action through facilitated, data-driven practice change, leveraging healthcare disparities and gaps to support equitable care for all Albertans and maintaining responsiveness to emerging health needs.
