About The University of Alberta

The University of Alberta (U of A) is among the top 100 post-secondary institutions in North America. It is the 5th largest university in Canada, with 18 faculties serving over 46,000 students. The U of A ranks 4th in Canada and 96th in the world (up from 110th in 2023), according to the 2025 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) global university rankings, which surveyed over 1,500 institutions worldwide.

Our Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FoMD) also ranks among the elite medical schools globally. It placed 86th in the world according to the 2025 QS rankings, and in 2024 the FoMD’s clinical, pre-clinical and health education programs ranked 73rd worldwide, based on the Times Higher Education world university rankings. No fewer than 18 subjects at the U of A ranked in the top 100 worldwide, according to the 2023 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
