Global Health Bursary

For the 2025 - 2026 academic year, the Global Health Bursary has been reinstated. Students are eligible for $500 - $3,000 CAD each to offset the costs related to air travel.  Apply for an international elective using the UME Application Form by January 31, 2026.  Purchase your flights and send receipts to ghfomd@ualberta.ca for reimbursement by June 23, 2026.  (The bursary closes on June 30, 2026 so time is required to process your reimbursment.) UME students are to seek out other sources of funding as well which are listed below.

Education Abroad Individual Award

Open to full-time students at any level of study participating in programs outside of Canada of at least three weeks in length. Students must have a GPA of at least 2.7 over their last two semesters (Fall and Winter). The value of the award ranges from $750 to $3,750 depending on the length of the program. The program abroad must be starting after May 1. By applying for the Individual Award, students are also considered for a number of Endowed Awards as well. Edmonton Consular Corps Award

The Consular Corps Award supports studies and research that enhance students’ knowledge of international relations and development in such areas as diplomacy, conflict, trade and cultural relations, as well as Canada’s role in advancing world peace and economic development. It may be of particular interest to students going out on exchange or a summer program who are studying in that field, and if there are any students heading out for research. Graduate and PhD students are also eligible.  Deadline for applications is annually in February. For more information go here.
