CSC Funded IAP

The China Scholarship Council funded International Academic Program is a 3 month program for medical students that offers clinical observation, lectures by our renowned and award winning faculty, tours of our teaching hospitals and clinics, access to our simulation centres, participation in Discovery Learning practicums, and insights into our progressive medical school teaching methods.  This program is open for all international medical students and residents -- not only those who receive funding through the China Scholarship Council.

The next cohort is scheduled for May 20 - August 14, 2026.  Tuition is $9,000 CAD.  Participants are responsible for their own accommodations and meals.  Single and shared rooms are available in Lister Residence on campus starting on May 19, 2026 and ending August 15, 2026.  To book a room at Lister Residence, email groupbookings@ualberta.ca. Put "Booking for CSC IAP" in the subject line.  Other options are  Campus Towers, which is a 5 minute walk from the classroom or the Varscona Hotel which is a 25 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride away.  There are many other options in Edmonton that can be found with a search of the internet. Once we receive your application, we will issue an invitation letter to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). Check out processing times for your country here.

Payment Information:  Go to this link and look for "5. CSC IAP (25IEP)-Fees".  Use 9999999 as your student ID. Enter your fees as listed on this webpage

Registrants should not pay their registration fee until they receive their visa.  Deadline for payment is May 5, 2026.  Extensions are provided on a case by case basis if required due to visa delays.  If participants depart prior to completing the program, the full fees for that period apply and no refunds are offered.
