Required Graduate Professional Development

Over the course of your graduate degree in engineering, you will complete the following professional development (PD) components. 

For students admitted in Fall 2023 and beyond + BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS

1. Complete an individual development plan (IDP) following the instructions provided by Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS)
  • Deadline — within the first 12 months (MSc/MEng) or 18 months (PhD) of your program
2. Attend eight hours of professional development sessions relevant to your IDP
  • All GPS professional development activities scheduled through CampusBRIDGE are eligible
  • Sessions offered by Engineering Career Connections are eligible and highly recommended (offered throughout the year)
  • Deadline — by program completion (MSc/MEng) or within three years from the start of your program (PhD)

For students admitted prior to Fall 2023

Requirements specified by Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS)

1. Complete an individual development plan (IDP) following the GPS instructions
  • Deadline — within the first 12 months (MSc/MEng) or 18 months (PhD) of your program
2. Attend 12 hours of professional development sessions relevant to your IDP
  • Deadline — by program completion (MSc/MEng) or within 3 years from the start of your program (PhD)
  • All GPS professional development activities scheduled through CampusBRIDGE are eligible
