The Killam Fellowships program is a bilateral, international exchange agreement administered by Fulbright Canada that allows UAlberta students to attend participating schools in the United States of America (listed below).  All Killam Fellowships can be undertaken either for one semester, or a full year, and participants are generously funded.

Please note the following restrictions:

• Open only to undergraduate students who are Canadian citizens.
• Closed to law students.
• Student applicants from engineering may be faced with limited placement opportunities since not all participating institutions offer courses in that subject area or maybe only limited courses.  It will be important for you to do your research to find out about course offerings before you apply.
• Student applicants from medicine and dentistry need to know that Fulbright Canada cannot support clinical studies or research in medical fields.
• If all of your University of Alberta course work to date has been in French and your first language is French then you would need to present the results of an English proficiency test as part of your Killam Fellowship Program application.
• Everyone wants to go to Hawaii!  Although not impossible, your chances of being accepted for an exchange at the participating school in Hawaii are slim so you need to also be willing and able to go somewhere else should your application be successful.
• You must apply be the deadline advertised on the UAlberta website and not any deadline you might see on the Fulbright Canada website.
• The Killam Fellowship Program application process is different from that for all other exchange opportunities and has an earlier application deadline.
