Complete the International Student Online Orientation
Online Orientation is a self-paced Canvas course accessible through Bear Tracks with your CCID. Each module contains valuable information on the unique aspects of student life at the U of A. You have the freedom and flexibility to complete each module on your own time.
Airport Welcome Services
Arriving in Edmonton between December 1, 2025, and January 31, 2026? The International Student and Visitor Services wants you to have a warm arrival and offers a complimentary voucher to help cover $25 of the taxi ride cost from the Edmonton International Airport to your accommodation in Edmonton.

Open a bank account and get a cell phone. Connect with campus and community services. Discover U of A resources, including student services, libraries, banks, and cell phone companies. Enjoy Free hot chocolate and door prizes. All students are welcome.
Get your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. | University Commons, Room 1-480
Bring your immigration documents (study permit and passport) and get your SIN done right on campus. A SIN is a confidential nine-digit number needed to work in Canada or access government services. No registration is required.
Webinar: Immigration rules international students must know
Jan. 28 | 2 p.m. | Online (ZOOM)
During this session, International Student Specialists will discuss the requirements international students are required to comply with during their studies in Canada, Study Permit work authorization, and the importance of valid documents (Passport, Study Permit, TRV, or eTA) for the duration of your stay in Canada.
