Exchange Program Deadlines

Fall Term or Full Year 

If you would like a Fall Term (September - December) or Full Year (September - April) exchange then in the same year we should receive your:

  • Nomination between January 15 and February 1*
  • Application by March 1*   

*All students participating in the National Student Exchange (NSE) program will be nominated at the March placement conference and will be given a different application deadline from that listed above if they are applying for Fall Term or Full Year exchanges.

Winter Term 

If you would like a Winter Term (January - April) exchange, then in the previous year we should receive your:

  • Nomination between April 1 and August 1**
  • Application by September 1**

**Annual "blackout" periods will be announced each year, happening sometime between April 1 and September 1.  This is peak vacation time for UAlberta personnel.  During blackout periods, nomination and application processing will be temporarily paused.

Early Nominations and Applications

Early nominations will sometimes be accepted and early applications will always be accepted.  We will process both on a rolling basis when possible.

Late Nominations and Applications

Late nominations and applications can sometimes be accepted; however, this is not recommended since it could negatively impact your ability to:
